Manifestation: Real or hoax?

I have watched countless life coaching videos and spiritual videos to help me with my anxiety and depression and most, if not all, mention “manifestation”. They all say “Manifest the life that you want”, I have manifested winning the lotto but haven’t quite reached there yet.

I don’t think it works that way. I think if you manifest a life of happiness and harmony at home, you will be given the opportunity to embrace those elements in your home. It’s not like you will suddenly be happy and harmonious. Whatever you manifest, you will be given directions on how to actually get there. If you really want a vehicle, irrespective of the the type, you have to envision yourself driving one. It’s not going to come from the ether, as you will have to work towards it however, whatever work you do to get to that goal will lead you to that goal provided you are responsible with money and budgeting.

Negative manifestation also exists because as you know there will always be positive and negative in this world. In order for the world to be in balance both factors must be in existence to maintain balance on earth. Can you imagine only positivity and good things happening in life? It would be nice however if that’s the case everyone will be driving the car of their dreams, disagreements would not occur and without disagreements, growth in a relationship won't occur because it depends on two people coming to an understanding. Good and bad must exist in our realm.

Imagine your car broke down. You now have to have fix it and God knows how much that would set you back. Some time passes and you notice there’s a problem with another component of your vehicle. Back to the mechanic it goes. A few weeks later, your room television refuses to come on and you decide that because it’s so old maybe it was time that it was replaced. You look up into the heavens above and confidently ask “What else can go wrong?”

If there’s one thing I learnt from that experience is “thou shall not tempt the lord” because God answers some of my questions quite quickly. Sure enough a day later, my washing machine did not allow me to wash my clothes – might I add I already loaded the machine and put detergent. My dumb self asked again “What else could possibly go wrong at this point?”

Surprise! Our living room main television broke down on us and that was it. I shut my mouth and didn’t even dare ask another question because I was afraid of what’s to come.

In this scenario, I did manifest more negative things happening and that’s what kept happening. If negative manifestation works (it could not have been a coincidence – no way), then surely positive manifestation must exist as well for our lives to follow a natural trajectory.

On a positive note, since I was younger, I always saw myself working in an environment where I got to dress up and wear formal everyday. It took me ten years to get there but I eventually did. I always saw myself driving a car with electric windows and fancy locking systems and here I am with my humble yet modern vehicle. I saw myself graduate from varsity with a distinction and it happened in 2023 and I was elated. There were so many parts of my life that I unknowingly manifested that actually came true. I keep manifesting peace, and the universe gives me moments to choose between peace and turmoil. Sometimes I choose turmoil without even realising it and make my own life harder.

You are not going to get what you want by sitting around and just imagining it. You will see the signs and you will have to work towards the life you want and the life you envision for yourself. I am a firm believer of what you put out into the universe, is what you get back. If you are someone that complains alot, you will be given more tasks to be unhappy about. You can either look at things through the eyes of an optimist, pessimist or realist. I am more along the lines of a realist. I’m sure you heard this line before – an optimist sees the glass half full, the pessimist sees it as half empty and the realist sees it as just half a glass of water.

Being pessimistic, means you don’t get your hopes up about something but it also means you don’t send positive vibes to the universe whilst being optimistic, you send positive vibes out and you have hope that it will happen. Manifesting a life without mental health disorders is difficult. It’s not as easy however if you look closely, the pattern is the same. Being depressed, manifesting happiness in your life is a choice that you choose to make based on your life. You can either go with the flow of your life and make the most of what comes your way rather than magnifying the microscopic problem and allowing it to drive you crazy.

Manifesting a life without anxiety is similar. The universe gives you a scenario and you can choose how you would react to it based on your beliefs. If you really want to manifest a life without anxiety, you will be given lesser scenarios that make you anxious. You will also learn how to deal with these scenarios in a way that doesn’t trigger unrealistic thoughts and thoughts that tumble together to make a big anxious ball.

It’s also important to make mention that many victims of this disorder are on medication (myself included) and because of that, the above makes sense and is something that can be done.

I would say manifesting the life you want is definitely something to look into and something you should give some thought towards. Imagine what you want your life to look like and practice it everyday through each panic attack and through each depressive episode. Manifest the life you deserve, one that is full of being able to conquer the bad and celebrate the good. Just remember, we cannot exist in a world only full of goodness, there must be an equilibrium of good and bad – the only difference is how we respond to both factors.

All in all – manifestation seems legit!

Stay tuned for the next post.

Till next time!
